Doctoral Programmes
University offers postgraduate programmes leading to award of the degree of doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.). The award of Ph.D. degree is in recognition of high academic achievements, independent research and application of knowledge to the solution of technical and scientific problems. Creative and productive inquiry is the basic requirement underlying the research work.
The academic programme leading to the Ph.D. degree is broad-based and may involve course credit requirement at the discretion of the university and a no-optional research thesis.
The degree of doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) of University shall be conferred on a candidate who fulfills all the requirements specified in these Ordinances and Regulations.
The aim of these ordinances and regulations is to provide a flexible system that promotes high student enrollment in the Ph.D. program without creating unnecessary beaurocratic bottlenecks in eligibly, residency, course work requirements etc. So long as the academic standards of the Ph.D. thesis are not compromised, clear efforts shall be made to permit flexibly in the administration of the doctoral program.
1. CLASSIFICATION
The applicant for admission to the Ph.D. program shall be classified under any one of the following categories.
- Full Time Research scholar may be a university employee, recipient of Govt./Semi Govt. fellowships, sponsored candidate, or a self-financed student. Such a scholar will not be employed elsewhere and will devote fulltime to Ph.D. program.
- Part Time Research scholar is one who works for Ph.D. program after fulfilling his/her working duties and may include university employees, sponsored candidates, project staff, self-financed students.

2. ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY
An applicant possessing any one of the following qualifications in appropriate areas shall be eligible to apply for admission for Ph.D. program of the institute.
- Masters degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Sciences / Management / relevant area. Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 6.75 on a 10-point scale equivalent or 60% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded.
- B.Tech. Degree or equivalent in respective discipline with at least 2 yrs working experience.
Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 7.25 on a 10-point scale or equivalent or 70% in aggregate where marks are awarded.

3. ELIGIBILITY FOR PART TIME PhD
- The applicant possesses the minimum entry qualifications for the degree.
- The applicant proves to the satisfaction of university that his/her official duties permit him/her time to devote sufficient time to research.
