Brief Background

Dr. Rajiv Saxena, born at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh in 1961, obtained B.E. (Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering) in the year 1982 from Jabalpur University, Jabalpur. Subsequently, Dr. Saxena joined the Reliance Industries, Ahmedabad, as Graduate Trainee. Dr. Saxena had an Industrial Experience of about two years in Automation of Textile Machinery with Reliance, GRASIM, CIMMCO and Orimpex Textile Industries.
In 1984, Dr. Saxena joined Madhav Institute of Technology & Science, Gwalior as Lecturer in Electronics Engineering. He obtained his M.E. (Digital Techniques & Data Processing) from Jiwaji University, Gwalior in 1990. Dr. Saxena was promoted to Reader in the same department at MITS, Gwalior in the year 1990. As a QIP fellow he joined and involved in research at IIT, Roorkee (erstwhile UOR, Roorkee) in 1993 for his Ph.D. degree. The Ph. D. degree was conferred on him in 1996-97 in Electronics & Computer Engineering. Dr. Saxena was promoted as Professor in Electronics Engineering in April 1998. He was Head of the Department and Chairman, BOS, for two terms i.e. 2002-04 and January 2006 to till his joining at JIET, Guna.
During the research tenure Dr. Saxena suggested a few corrections in one benchmark paper of Dr. A. Papoulis (a veteran in the field of communication engineering) published in the year 1973. These corrections were appreciated and accepted by Dr. A. Papoulis himself.
Dr. Saxena served, on lien from MITS, Gwalior, at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, as Professor in Electronics & Communication Engineering from June, 2000 to June 2002. He was the founder Head of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at TIET, Patiala. He also served as Principal, again on lien from MITS Gwalior, at Rustam Ji Institute of Technology, BSF Academy, Tekanpur (an institute established by a paramilitary force BSF, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, for the wards of employees of all the Central Police Organizations) for a period of two years from January, 2004 to January, 2006.
He also involved, as a guest faculty, at leading institutions including ABV-IIITM, Gwalior, IITTM, Gwalior and in sequential M. Tech. Program of U. P. Technical University, Lucknow. Dr. Saxena delivered various invited talks / keynote addresses at various platforms of repute. He was involved in counseling / admissions at state and local level since last 15 years.
Dr. Saxena served as Co-ordinator of Project IMPACT for a period of two years (project was a joint venture of World Bank and Ministry of Communication & I.T.) at TIET, Patiala.
Dr. Saxena has supervised six Ph. D. candidates in the area of wireless, cellular, mobile & digital communication, digital signal processing, digital image processing and application of DSP tools in electronic systems. There are three more candidates working at various places for their doctoral work with Dr. Saxena under the joint supervision. He has published about 25 research articles in refereed journals of national and international repute (viz. IEEE Trans. on Information Theory, IEEE Trans. on Signal Processing, Journal of Signal Processing, Journal of Digital Signal Processing, Journal of IISc, Bangalore, IETE Journal of Research, IETE Technical Review, IETE Journal of Education, IE(I) Journal of E&C Division, etc.). Dr. Saxena has also supervised about twenty five PG Dissertations and many UG Projects in the areas of his interests. Dr. Saxena executed two major research projects funded by AICTE at MITS and TIET besides the lone and first project under FIST of DST at MITS.
Dr. Saxena has organized various national level seminars/ symposiums/ conferences or workshops at Gwalior, Roorkee, Tekanpur and Patiala. He also conducted QIP short term training programs sponsored by ISTE and AICTE jointly at Patiala and Gwalior.
Dr. Saxena is a Fellow of IETE and Sr. Member of CSI and ISTE.
