Brief Background
Professor D.S.Hooda did his M.A. (Maths.) from Delhi University in 1969 and M.Phil. from Meerut University, Meerut, in 1976. He joined CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar as a Lecturer in 1970 and was appointed Asst. Professor of mathematics in 1972. He did his Ph.D. from K.U. Kurukshetra in 1981. His field of specialization is Information Theory and its Applications and his research interests are information measures, source coding, entropy optimization principles and their applications in statistics, finance mathematics, survival analysis, and bounds on probabilities of error, pattern recognition and fuzzy information. He has published about 80 papers in various journals of National and International repute. He has authored 25 popular articles and four books in mathematics and statistics and one book on A,ª"Aryabhatta: life and contributionsA,ªA?.
Prof. Hooda has been General Secretary of Indian Society of Information Theory and Applications for many years. He is Vice President of the International Forum of Interdisciplinary Mathematics. He has attended 48 national and international conferences and has visited twelve foreign countries. He is an elected member of International Statistical Institute. American Biographical Institute, USA, chose him in 2004 for his outstanding research and conferred with honorary appointment to Research Board of Advisors of the institute. Indian Society of Information Theory has bestowed him with a prestigious award on him in 2005 for his outstanding contribution and research in information theory.
Prof. Hooda is an eminent scholar and an able administrator at par excellence. He has been a member of expert committee of UGC for evaluation of the proposals to organize seminars/conferences/workshop. He was Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University for a short span of time. Presently, he is Dean (Research) Jaypee Institute of Engineering and Technology, Raghogarh, Distt. Guna (M.P.) and engaged in teaching and research in Information Theory and its Applications in engineering and physical sciences.
